Marinduque, Philippines — The month of April is declared as National Literature Month where most of the events are dedicated to celebrate the joy of reading. The Book Nook Interns, Ms. Rachel Ann Arriesgado and Ms. Tricia Lauresta, facilitated an event at the Book Nook Marinduque in MSC Extramural Study Center.
The prayer was led by Mr. Angelo Solo, followed by opening remarks of Mr. Gerald M. Pajanustan. Ms. Jimely-Jane Estoya served as the guest speaker. A video presentation of the Litera Club Catalogue was held before the event finally proceeded to the bookmark coloring and book fair puzzles activity.
Consequently, there was a photo session with the student participants from Capayang Elementary School. The activity concluded with a closing message from Dr. Randy T. Nobleza-Director, SWK.

Another significant activity was the holding of CASS Colloquim hosted by Sir Jayven Nares along with the College of Arts and Social Sciences interns, under the support and direction of CASS Dean, Dr. Ernesto L. Largado.
The participants of the activity were composed of CASS Dean, Dr. Ernesto Largado, program heads of BA Communication, BA English Language Studies, and BS Social Work, Sir Jerome L. Lingon, Ma’am Jolly Rose A. Lancion, and Ma’am Rosalinda E. Punzalan respectively. The event was also graced by Sir Raul J. Magcamit, the Vice President for the Students’ Academic Affairs, and represented the College President, Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta. Additionally, the special guest speaker was Dr. Arthur Casanova the chairperson of Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino who expressed his appreciation and support to CASS for holding the event in line with the celebration of National Literature Month. Dr. Randy Nobleza, the Ambassador of Island Innovation, also imparted his message expressing full support to the activity together with co-director of SWK, Ms. Aubrey Jen T. Matibag.
Accordingly, Ms. Marjorie Mabolo introduced the judges for the virtual colloquium composed of Ma’am Sheryl Podra, Ma’am Jean Grace Solina-Nazareno, Dr. Alexander M. Pascua, and Dr. Jovito L. Opeña. After that, Ms. Marlene Fatalla explained the criteria for judging the papers for presentation.
This was followed by the message from Dr. Arthur Casanova, Dr. Ernesto Largado, and Dr. Randy Nobleza, and was followed by the introduction of the judges by Ms. Marjorie Mabolo, and the readings of the criteria for judging.
The presentation sequence started with the Social Work program, followed by the BA COMM program and the BA ELS program. The papers presented during the colloquium include The Way of Life of the Filipino Centenarians in Marinduque, Their Benefits and Privileges of Qualitative Research by Ms. Maria Liza Palomares and Angela M. Recto; Lived Experiences of Teenage Mother, focusing on their transition to motherhood by Ms. Erica M. Salvacion and Irish Gayle Manuba; Level of Satisfaction of Registered Solo Parent under Provision under RA11861 in Boac, Marinduque by Ms. Jeanette R. Mendoza and Ms. Nicole Sabit; Truth and Tales, The Living Stories Behind Gintong Baka and Gintong Barko by Ms. Arnella R. Laririt; Awareness on Information, Education, and Communication contained in Solid Waste Management of the Municipality of Mogpog by Mr. John Cameron M. Sager; Grueling Thesis, Writing Experience Encountered by Undergraduate Students at Marinduque State College by Ms. Regine M. Rioflorido; Analysis of English Language Speaking Skills of Tour Guides in Boac, Marinduque by Ms. Leni F. Nite; Status of Marinduque Tagalog, Standard Filipino in Visayan Language, Preservation of Visayan Language in Sitio Basyao, Mogpog, Marinduque by Ms. Jane Ann G. Mayores; and Perception of the Grade 12 Technical Vocational in Bognuyan National High School Student in the English Language Speaking Anxiety by Mr. Jake Lawrence S. Mejico.
After the presentation of the papers, the winners were announced. The fourth place belonged to John Cameron Sager-BA COMM, followed by third place, Ms. Jane Ann Mayores-BA ELS; and a tie for the second place for Ms. Jeanette Mendoza and Nicole Sabit-BS Social Work. The first place winner was Ms. Leni F. Nite from BAELS Program.
The event was indeed fruitful and successful with all the support and commitment of SWK interns, CASS interns, CASS faculty members and personnel, guest speakers, judges, and presenters. Everyone is looking forward to another year of successful research presentations showcasing various outputs from communication, language, and social work areas.
