Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — The National Fisheries Research and Development Institute delegationheld a courtesy call to MarSU President, Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, on October 8, 2024 at Office of the University President, MarSU Boac, Marinduque.
Prior to the courtesy visit, a traditional putong to welcome them was conducted at the University Lounge rendered by the MarSU Culture and Arts Unit.
Together with PDPZ who welcomed the group were Prof. Dr. Ma. Edelwina M. Blasé (Vice President for Research and Extension) along with Prof. Dr. Paloma DC. De Chavez (Dean, College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences).
The National Fisheries Research and Development Institute delegation was led by Dr. Mudjekeewis Santos (Scientist V and Chief of the Training Division), accompanied by Mr. Victor Paolo Cortez and Mr. Lino Norman Reyes (Media Production Assistants I), Rita Ms. Dela Cruz (Training Specialist IV and Chief of the Education Section), and Ms. Maria Aron Alcantara, (Administrative Assistant IV).
The delegation is set to conduct an interview and documentation of the giant squid which has been a study by Dr. Paloma D. De Chavez that garnered the 2023 National Academy of Science and Technology Outstanding Scientific Paper Award being the author of a paper published in the Philippine Journal of Fisheries, an Scopus indexed journal, along with co-authors from DA-NFRDI and CLSU
Additionally, the group is also set to conduct a Training Workshop on Scientific Writing and Publication to be held tomorrow, October 9, 2024 at the University Lounge for MarSU faculty members and personnel.
PDPZ expressed his gratitude for visiting the university and conveyed the support of MarSU administration to NFRDI being one of the valued partners in academic, research activities and extension of the university. Likewise, the entire team conveyed their deepest gratitude for the cordial reception provided by the MarSU community.
