Boac, Marinduque, Philippines – In commemoration of the 104th founding anniversary of Marinduque, a celebration with the theme “Mga Aral ng Kasaysayan, Gabay sa Pag-unlad ng Lalawigan” was held at the Marinduque Convention Center on February 21, 2024.
To kickstart the celebration, a motorcade of Local Government Units (LGUs) transpired, led by the Municipal Tourism Offices – the lead offices of the province.
Afterward, before the program proper, a wreath-laying ceremony took place at the Marinduque Centennial Monument, led by the Marinduque Police Provincial Office – Lead Agency.
Shortly after the preliminaries, Mr. Vincent Michael Q. Velasco, Provincial Administrator, gave his welcome remarks, with Hon. Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco, Congressman, Lone Congressional District, taking the center stage afterward for his inspirational message.
A folk dance performance then ensued, catered by the MSC Dance Troupe. Along with the MSCian delegation, Prof. Dr. Diosdado Zulueta was also present at the event.
Shortly after, Hon. Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr., Governor of the province of Marinduque, gave his anniversary message, recollecting the importance of officially establishing Marinduque.
Atty. Christopher R. Bañas, Regional Executive Director, Department of Agriculture MIMAROPA, and Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” T. Go were also present at the celebration, both delivering their messages to the public.
Right after another intermission number, Hon. Adeline M. Angeles, Vice-Governor of the province, gave her closing message.
The celebration did not actually end with a closing message; instead, it concluded with the release of barangay aid to 218 barangays in the province and the turnover of agricultural interventions led by the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office.
