Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — As Typhoon Pepito unleashes its wrath across the Philippines, Marinduque State University (MarSU) once again demonstrated its commitment to community service and solidarity by opening its doors to internally displaced persons (IDPs). The university’s swift response to the natural disaster provided much-needed relief to affected families, reinforcing its role as a pillar of support within the community.
As of 10:00 PM of November 16, 2024, as the typhoon approaches, MarSU’s administration quickly mobilized resources and transformed its facilities into temporary shelters. MarSU has welcomed 12 families (36 individuals) from Brgy. Tanza and Brgy. Balogo, Boac, Marinduque.
The university’s response was coordinated with local government units and disaster response teams to ensure a seamless operation. Led by President Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta together with Atty. Jandusay (VP for Admin & Finance), MarSU DRR led by Mr. John Ryan Leaňo and volunteers, including university staff, students, and faculty members, work tirelessly to provide assistance.
