The College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS) is one of the premiere schools in the province for IT education and services. It aims to produce competitive IT professionals and IT-enabled individuals who will encourage real innovation for advancements in the digital era of the province and the country.

The College was first established in 1998 at MSC Boac Campus through BOT Resolution No. 35. S. 1998 as the Institute of Information and Computing Sciences (IICS), a special program to offer Associate degrees in Computer Technology (ACT). Believing that the province needs IT human resources, IICS was adopted as the School of Information and Computing Sciences (SICS), after two years, offering two emerging degree courses: Bachelor of Science in Information Management and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology to cater to the graduates of ACT. The Bachelor of Science in Information Management (BSIM) was also offered at MSC’s Sta. Cruz campus, while the Bachelor of Science in Information Management was renamed Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) in compliance with CHED Memorandum Order No. 53 series of 2006.

After a decade, MSC underwent an organizational restructuring that saw the merger of the School of Industrial Technology and the School of Information and Computing Sciences. Thus, the School of Technology was born in 2016 albeit its existence was short-lived because, after three years, the two schools parted ways due to another restructuring. SICS was then re-born in 2019.

In its 22 years of existence, CICS has been significantly contributing to the fulfillment of MSC’s mandates in Instruction, Research, Extension, and Production. Currently, both the BSIS and BSIT at MSC’s Boac campus have been accredited Level 3 status by the Accrediting Agency of Charter Colleges in the Philippines (AACCUP), while the BSIS in Sta. Cruz campus has been accredited Level 2 by the same agency.

CICS has also produced thousands of IT professionals serving not only in the province but in other parts of the country and even overseas as well. Faculty and students are also actively engaged in research endeavors through various presentations and publications locally and internationally. CICS also serves the community by providing relevant extension projects and activities.

CICS is committed to give what their stakeholders deserve through quality education and public service with their mantra:

”WORK IN SILENCE AND LET OUR SUCCESS MAKE OUR NOISE.”
