Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — Officials from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) recently reached out to Marinduque State University (MarSU) to request assistance in providing short courses for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) on November 6, 2024 at MarSU Main Campus, Boac, Marinduque.
Recognizing the importance of education in rehabilitation, BJMP officials believe that these short courses can significantly contribute to the personal development and reintegration of inmates into society.
MarSU, known for its commitment to community service and education, has expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. Based from the initial discussion about the proposed activity, the College of Industrial Technology at MarSU will be the primary source of these educational programs, offering tailored courses that address the unique needs of the incarcerated population. These programs are designed to equip individuals with practical skills and knowledge that can enhance their employability and support their successful reintegration into the community.
This partnership underscores the shared vision of both institutions to promote rehabilitation and reduce recidivism through education. By leveraging the expertise of the College of Industrial Technology, MarSU aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of people deprived of liberty, fostering their growth and contributing to a more inclusive society.
This discussion is still in its initial stages, and both parties acknowledge the need to comply with all necessary requirements and formalities before the program can be fully implemented.
The BJMP officials and personnel were composed of Jail Provincial Administrator SJO3 Rolan M Rabi, SJO 3 Jose Odysseus G Rodas, SJO1 Jonathan Penacerrada, JO3 Liezel M Piguerra, and JO1 Jeneses M Piano.
