Calapan, Mindoro, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU) actively participated in the recent MIMAROPA SUCs Harmonization and Collaboration Meeting, which focused on aligning and enhancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs offered by State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the MIMAROPA region with the existing guidelines and standards set by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on November 5, 2024 at TESDA MIMAROPA, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

The meeting brought together representatives from various SUCs in the region, including MarSU, to discuss strategies for improving the quality and relevance of TVET programs. The primary goal was to ensure that these programs meet the needs of the local industries and contribute to the economic development of the region.

The TVET meeting agenda highlighted the Curriculum alignment through TVET embedment or through Ladderized Program; TVET program offerings of SUCs recognized and registered under UTPRAS; alignment and complementation of Diploma Programs with SUC program offerings; implement credit transfer and micro credentials through SUCs; and share learning and R&D practices for transformative and innovative TVET.

Additionally, the review of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was also held during the meeting wherein corrections and suggestions were solicited for the finalization of the MOU. This MOU will be circulated to the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and open for further comments and suggestions.

The meeting concluded with a formal pledge of commitment from all participating SUCs to work together in harmonizing their TVET programs with TESDA standards. This collaboration will ultimately benefit students, industries, and the broader community once realized.

TESDA being one of the valued partner of MarSU joins in this efforts to integrate industry-specific skills and knowledge into its curriculum, providing students with hands-on training and practical experience. MarSU also recognizes the importance of collaboration with local businesses and industries to create a seamless transition from education to employment for its graduates.

MarSU President, Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, who was attending an equally important events was represented by Mr. Ernani J. Sto. Domingo from the College of Industrial Technology. Mr. Sto. Domingo immediately reported to PDPZ the result of the activity on November 7, 2024.
